Ohio House Puts Financial Squeeze On Camera Enforcement
An overwhelming majority of Ohio lawmakers want to rein in the use of speed cameras and red-light cameras in the state. By a 71 to 24 vote last month, the body approved a measure granting motorists more of a shot at a fair trial and cutting the state funding for municipalities that profit from automated ticketing. The Senate Judiciary Committee on Wednesday was assigned to review the proposal.

Feds Bust New Jersey Cops For Ripping Off Motorists
A pair of cops from Paterson, New Jersey face federal corruption charges for stealing from motorists during traffic stops. Officers Jonathan K. Bustios, 28, and Eudy Ramos, 31, were led away in handcuffs Wednesday by agents with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

Iowa Officials Warn Of Speed Camera Dangers
The Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) and the state attorney general’s office on Tuesday told Iowa Supreme Court that speed cameras are potential highway hazards. The agency appeared before the high court justices to defend its role in crafting rules governing the placement of automated ticketing machines on highways. Municipalities are challenging the agency’s authority to do so, but IDOT says its legal duty to handle obstructions on highways applies to photo radar devices.

Texas Court: Slow Lane Change Signal Does Not Justify Auto Search
Police in Texas should not have arrested and searched a driver merely because he was a bit late flipping on his turn signal. The state Court of Appeals last week reversed the judgment handed down against Andreas Marcopoulos, who was handcuffed and his white Chevy truck searched on September 10, 2014 because he did not activate his blinker until after the signal light changed and he began making his way through the intersection.

Australia, Italy: Speed Cameras Scorched
Vigilantes in Victoria, Australia took out a speed camera last week Monday. According to Victoria Police, the automated ticketing machine at the intersection of Punt Road and High Street in Windsor was set on fire.
