US Supreme Court Sides With Cops In Deadly Police Chase
Police deserve the benefit of the doubt when using deadly force against a dangerous driver. The US Supreme Court on Monday gave a pass to a Texas state trooper who gunned down a fleeing motorist wanted for a misdemeanor probation violation on March 23, 2010.

France, Germany, Italy, Saudi Arabia, UK: Speed Cameras Under Attack
Vigilantes in Northwich, England set fire to a speed camera last week Monday. According to the Chester Chronicle, a burning tire was used to start the blaze that disabled the A556 Chester Road camera in Sandiway. On Wednesday, a speed camera on the A37 in South Somerset failed to prevent a collision resulting in the camera’s destruction, the Western Gazette reported.

Federal Court Emphasizes Right To Withdraw Search Consent
When a motorist gives consent to a vehicle search during a traffic stop, that consent can be withdrawn. The Fourth Circuit US Court of Appeals last month decided to emphasize this point by ruling against the police officers who ignored Dmytro Patiutka when he told them to stop searching his SUV.

Virginia Toll Road Suffers Major Legal Setback
A federal court delivered a serious blow to the high occupancy toll lane (HOT lane) scheme in Northern Virginia on Monday. US District Court Judge James C. Cacheris ruled in favor of motorists on almost every major count in their ongoing lawsuit against Transurban, the Australian company in charge of the Interstate 95 and Capital Beltway HOT lanes.
