Support
New York Assembly Bill 1601 has been introduced into the Governmental Operations Committee. The bill would prohibit police agencies from using facial recognition technology in connection with officer-based camera systems.
The NMA supports this measure as a way to control the spread of intrusive surveillance measures that threaten the privacy and civil liberties of motorists. See here for a more detailed discussion of the problems associated with facial recognition technology.
