Oppose
New York Assembly Bill 1246 has been introduced into the Assembly Transportation Committee. If passed, this measure would lower speed limits in villages, towns and cities from 30 mph to 25 mph.
The NMA opposes this measure since arbitrarily lowering speed limits has little impact on traffic safety and artificially increases violation rates leading to more ticket revenue. Learn more about how speed limits should be set here.
