Traffic Ticket Attorneys: A Tip From A NMA Member
As a followup to last week’s newsletter on the topic of how to hire a traffic ticket attorney, we thought we would share this tip from one of your fellow members:
Additionally, you should contact your state or county BAR Association. They typically have an attorney referral program where you can talk to an attorney for little or no cost. The state of Michigan’s BAR Association has a referral program where you can talk to an attorney for up to 30 minutes for $20. Typically, they do not follow through with the charge since it take more time to bill you than it is worth. The Oakland County, Michigan BAR Association also has a referral program where you can talk to an attorney for up to 30 minutes for free. Since you can only get one referral per call to the BAR Association and I like to get three opinions, I simply call the BAR Association for another referral after I talk to the attorney from the previous referral. They will ask you for the type of attorney you would like to talk to so be prepared to answer the question.
