UPDATE 6/30/22: Bill died in committee

Missouri House Bill 2705 would ban the use of ticket cameras (both red-light and speed) throughout the state by August 8, 2022. Communities currently using cameras would have until September 1, 2023 to terminate existing contracts. It is under review in the House Rules – Administrative Oversight Committee.

The NMA supports this bill since photo enforcement is more about generating revenue than improving public safety. It also raises serious due process issues for motorists who receive tickets. More on these issues can be found here and here.
