Support
Senate Bill 875 would ban the use of red-light cameras throughout Michigan. This proposal has already passed the whole Senate and is now under consideration in the House Transportation Committee. The bill would essentially amount to a proactive strike against camera proponents since there are currently no communities in the state using ticket cameras.
The NMA supports this bill since photo enforcement is more about generating revenue than improving public safety. It also raises serious due process issues for motorists who receive tickets. More on these issues can be found here and here.
