UPDATE March 15, 2022: Bill died in committee.
House Bill 6029 would repeal the Mark Wandall Traffic Safety Act, the legislation that enabled the use of red-light cameras. If passed it would effectively shut down red-light camera programs throughout the state.
The NMA supports this bill since photo enforcement is more about generating revenue than improving public safety. It also raises serious due process issues for motorists who receive tickets. More on these issues can be found here and here.
