UPDATE June 22, 2021: Bill died in committee.
House Bill 474 amends existing state statute against using cameras or other electronic devices to surveil the public. The amendments would prohibit tracking the location of motor vehicles as well as the identity and location of pedestrians. The bill has already passed the House and is now under consideration in the Senate Judiciary Committee.
The NMA supports measures to limit or eliminate the tracking/monitoring of citizens’ movements. For more on the state of the surveillance state, check out this blog post from 2020.
