Growth Energy files amicus brief in CAFE standards case
Growth Energy, the nation’s largest biofuel trade association, filed an amicus brief in a consolidated set of court challenges to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s (NHTSA’s) Corporate Average Fuel Economy (CAFE) Standards for Passenger Cars and Light Trucks for Model Years 2027-2032, which is being litigated in the U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit.
Helping Older Drivers Stay Safe on the Road
According to the NHTSA, traffic crashes involving drivers aged 65 and older claimed 7,870 lives in 2022 – a nearly 5% increase from 2021. These numbers reflect the challenges that come with an aging population and emphasize the importance of proactive measures to address the unique needs of older drivers.
Traffic fatalities involving large trucks continue to drop
New data from the federal government reveals that traffic fatalities involving large trucks went down in the first half of the year, bucking a deadly trend that dates back more than a decade. This was a 1% decrease compared to the first half of 2023.
Red-light cameras could return to Rochester
The city ended its red-light camera program in 2016 saying it unfairly targeted poor neighborhoods. Any measure to have automatic enforcement or red-light cameras in the city would have to be approved by lawmakers in Albany this upcoming session.
