Over the years, the NMA’s most effective weapon against abuses of motorists’ rights has been to shine the light of day on bad practices and outright scams.  We need your help to expose more of these abusive enforcement-for-revenue-not-safety tactics by cities across the country.  Please donate $50, $75, $100, or more to fund the research and collection of hard data necessary to root out the most egregious examples of using motorists as cash machines.

We will use the NMA’s National Speed Trap Exchange (www.speedtrap.org) to uncover the worst speed trap cities and with your assistance, fund researchers to gather information about what role ticket revenues play in their overall budgets.  We may even discover places where simple speed trap practices have expended to more predatory civil forfeiture rackets where officers use any pretext to stop vehicles, do a search, and confiscate cash or property without a warrant or any real probable cause.
