Dear Portland, Oregon NMA Members,
Scooters, Scooters Everywhere! Oh, No!
Here is your chance to give your two cents on scooters in your city. The Portland Bureau of Transportation has designed a survey for the city to help plan for a new, one-year E-Scooter Pilot Program that will begin in the early spring 2019.
From an NMA standpoint, scooters should be restricted to bicycle lanes. A concern is if that scooters become more popular, this can then be used as an excuse to expand bike lanes even further while eliminating car lanes. This could be a real possibility for a city like Portland.
Here are some articles from the last six months on the scooter issue that might be helpful for you to understand the many issues that surround this new Mobility as a Service or MaaS.
