The search engine giant, Google, makes some interesting data available to the public through its Google Insights for Search.
We thought it would be fun to see what cities generate the highest number of searches (relative to their populations) for the terms “speeding ticket” and traffic ticket” since 2004.
The lists below are what Google generated based on our search.
Note: Google’s data is scaled and normalized. That means that they’ve measured the relative number of searches instead of the absolute number of searches. Otherwise, the most populated areas would likely top the list by default.

- Los Angeles, CA
- San Francisco, CA

We should note that his is definitely not a scientific exercise. Among other possible flaws, there may not be a strong correlation between the number of searches and the number of tickets handed out. Even so, it should be fun to talk about — especially if your city shows up on the list!
